Tourist Sites, Parks and Archaeological Sites:
Chichen Itza is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico, and for good reason. The largest archeological site in Yucatán is Chichen-Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of immense cultural importance. MUSA Museo Subacuático de Arte: in 2009 a monumental contemporary art museum was formed in the waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc (very close to our department). MUSA consists of more than 500 monumental life-size permanent sculptures and is one of the world's largest and most ambitious artificial underwater art attractions. Isla Mujeres: is a Mexican island in the Caribbean Sea, 13 kilometers off the coast of Cancun. It is a vacation destination known for its beaches, including Playa Norte, the resorts, and scuba diving in the surrounding coral reefs. At Punta Sur, at the southern end, there is a lighthouse, the remains of a Mayan temple, and a sanctuary for sea turtles.
Cancun Maya Museum and San Miguelito Archeological Zone: Home to one of the Yucatan's most important collections of Mayan artifacts, this modern museum is a welcome sight in a city known more for its party scene than for cultural attractions. On display are about 400 pieces found at key sites in and around the peninsula, ranging from sculptures to ceramics and jewelry. One of the three rooms shows temporary exhibitions on a Mayan theme. Located in the Hotel Zone.
